My prayer this school year?

Lord,
May my love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so I can discern what is best and be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Amen

This morning my friend Becky and I decided it would be a good idea to wake up at 3:30 and go to the flea market. Actually, we decided long before today.

It was exhausting, but a fun experience.

Highlights:

* I decided that the booth across from us that bought gold really meant that they bought anything gold colored. I headed over there with a gold scarf, tablecloth, hat and paper. I left it there and told them to bring the money later. They brought over $2 that they insisted we keep and bought us kettle corn. They were fun neighbors!

*The booth next to us, when they started to see our amazing success at "selling" (note: we actually gave away much more than we sold), started calling out, "That booth is Dollar General, we are Sears over here."

*We had a storm blow over us. No rain, just tornado-style wind. The old man, Gene, next to us (other side, not Sears) kept coming over to us asking to buy stuff for 10 cents and calling me Jenny. Oh, back to the wind, his huge patio umbrella almost knocked me out, but I caught it. No worries. I may have yelled to the whole flea market, "Batten down the hatches!"

*Rose. Our top buyer. Wow, she unloaded us. But how could she not, when we stuffed random items into her basket completely gratis. She gave us her phone number (we gave her ours too) and decided we needed to go out for margaritas. I had no idea how soon she meant-- she called us on the way home and asked us to pick up a package she left at another booth (umm . . . I have caller id and just decided not to answer, whoops!).

*I convinced another woman to buy my Noah's Ark collection for $4. She did not want to do this, but Becky convinced her to be compassionate. There were several times when Becky commented on the things I was selling and was glad she knows me now post noah's-ark-collection-Mary-Engelbreit-decorating-pastels-florals-decorated-teddy-bears-porcelain- dolls-having.

What I learned:

*Money is SO dirty.

*I hate dust.

*Getting up at 3:30 is not for me.

*I like giving better than selling.

*How to tuck a tarp into a truck.

*How to use a tarp as a ground cover.

*I do really need 2 cups of coffee in the morning.
